Brand new episode of N The Zone to start the month of April…

No. This is not an April Fools joke.

The Monologue 04-01-18

The Livn Legend returns with another edition of “The Monologue.” This time talking new season of the St. Louis Cardinals and does NOT go after Mike Matheny. WHAT? So he turned his attention to a conversation he had with a friend about race in the city of St. Louis. Then he turned his attention to a time last year where THIS show was going to partner with another podcast network, and how it was dissed by the network’s founder in the direction it would go. The Livn Legend unleashed. NOTE: The following contains language that some might find objectionable. Parental discretion is advised.

Autumn Marie – The WWE Diva Report 04-01-18

The Livn Legend’s daughter Autumn Marie joins the show to give the first edition of “The WWE Diva Report.” She gives insight on the latest on the WWE Women’s division leading up to Wrestlemania…along with a major hot take on a highly publicized (yet unscheduled) match between John Cena and The Undertaker. City to city, state to state, worldwide! We’re bringing the youth to N The Zone! The following segment is sponsored by Our Lady of Perpetual Health.

Tina Delish (Sports Life Magazine) 04-01-18

Tina Delish, contributor of Sports Life Magazine/Radio talks sports, cannabis, events and more from the digital publication with Palmer.

As always, we’re going city to city, state to state, worldwide! It’s not a podcast, THIS. IS. THE NETWORK!

All Eyes On Vince

Vince McMahon w/ WWE championship belt

@TheATrainSTL

Vince McMahon knows how to get the attention.

The chairman of the WWE couldn’t have picked a better week to get the national attention in sports.

There was RAW’s 25th anniversary show on Monday night that featured great memories and nostalgic moments. (Aside from the following Tuesday’s Smackdown and Wednesday’s NXT events) Not to mention having the anniversary show in not one, but TWO venues with the Barclays Center and the original home of “Monday Night RAW,” the Manhattan Center. The eyes were on Vince.

Then on Thursday afternoon, the long-awaited announcement from Vince on the return of the XFL, or as I previously stated, “The Rebirth.” Maybe it wasn’t that long (it was made in November), but it damn sure felt that way. Again Vince had the eyes for that one because pro football is a little vulnerable right now with the fallout of politics being entered into the game. Vince gave a basic overview on what to look forward to in the new league. NO GIMMICKS, NO POLITICS, JUST FOOTBALL. Again, the eyes were on Vince.

Then last night, WWE began another weekend of action with its brand NXT and its “Takeover” in Philadelphia. 5 stellar matches including the brand’s top championship match in which the champion Andrade “Cien” Almas retained against challenger Johnny Gargano. I must say that was one helluva match. It entertained from the start of the match to the end of it. I have watched a couple of these NXT pay-per-views and each time I enjoyed it. I need to start watching more of the brand. Again, eyes were on Vince.

Then Sunday night, WWE capped it off in Philadelphia with the 2018 Royal Rumble with a history-in-the-making match. For the 1st time, a Rumble had 30 women compete and one of them (Asuka was the winner) will get the opportunity for a Women’s Title shot at Wrestlemania in April. Along with 8 other matches, that included the Men’s Royal Rumble match (Shinsuke Nakamura won and announced that he would fight AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania)…once again the eyes were on Vince.

Ronda Rousey

NOW, I understand that the Grammys took place at the same time but that did not stop Vince from banking in on the ones that truly watch his promotion. Especially when his promotion grabbed MAJOR news headlines when UFC fighter Ronda Rousey showed up at the end of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view which then prompted “The Worldwide Leader In Sports” to announce that she had signed with Vince’s promotion and participate full-time.

Vince couldn’t have planned this past week any better.

The Rebirth

Posted in Football, Special, Sports with tags , , , , , , on January 26, 2018 by ALNTheZone

@TheATrainSTL

8 teams. 10 games. 40 players. 2020.

What does these numbers equate to?

It’s the rebirth of the XFL.

Yes, folks. It’s coming back. And this time it looks completely legit. At least that is what it looked like from the formal press conference that Vince McMahon put out at Thursday afternoon at 3pm Eastern standard time. My interests for the revival, or reboot, have truly piqued.

Now, I don’t know who the teams are, or where they will play, or who’s going to be in it. Because it’s really starting from scratch. With this formal announcement, this is going to be a different product from the one that McMahon put out in 2001.

I must say, McMahon is really going for the “fan approach.” He wants to hear the thoughts and ideas from the fans so the league can prosper.

Vince McMahon, XFL Founder

I happened to watch the presser and he dismissed that there will be no WWE crossovers. XFL 2 and WWE are separate entities and will not coexist. So no Jim Ross, which really stinks, because he loves football and he can announce a football game like he did with XFL 1 back in ‘01. None of your favorite wrestlers, past or present. NO WWE in this rebirth. McMahon also said that he won’t even be the frontman for the league, which gives indication that will be a new face this time running the show. McMahon is the founder but will be behind the scenes. That’s a plus. Because back in 2001, he looked like he didn’t know what he was doing and the product was rushed.

McMahon also said that politics will NOT be in this league and that players WILL stand for the anthem. Along with, former players that have had criminal records can NOT play in XFL 2. I found that to be extreme, maybe a zero tolerance policy and give players a second chance, but those are his rules and regulations. He wants a clean-cut league. He also did not mention anything about being a competitor to the NFL.

As of now, no media outlets have been announced, but McMahon said that some outlets have taken interest in the new league. That’s a given. He gave the year 2020 because he believes that it will take 2 years to get everything needed for it.

What got me is that when the announcement was made in November 2017 (Brad Shepard was the first who broke the story), he had put down $100 million (round or about) into this new league (the entity is Alpha Entertainment, LLC) and just let the rumors fly. He also got the people’s attention significantly. Instantly, abandoned NFL cities began to talk about the potential of a team being located within XFL 2, especially St. Louis. As of now, the city of St. Louis has filed a lawsuit against Stan Kroenke in federal court over relocation. Other cities like San Diego and Oakland (Raiders will be in Las Vegas by the year 2020) will be possibly looked as an XFL city. However, all of the teams will be owned and ran by McMahon because of it being a single-entity league.

I had been looking forward to this day, and honestly, he didn’t disappoint me. He gave generalized answers during his Q&A portion, but it didn’t matter. He looks at it as: No gimmicks, no politics, just football. There will be a lot of questions surrounding the league in the upcoming weeks and months up until 2020. Our team will do our best to cover the angles as best as possible.

In case you missed it, you can check out the official presser at the link below.

The Best of N The Zone: 01-15-17

img_20170115_093530Unfortunately there is no NEW episode this week due to some unfortunate circumstances in town. However, we do have a wonderful “BEST OF” show for you. In a matter of speaking this is a Rams-themed episode. Total coincidence when myself and Palmer put this show together. Seriously. I got two monologues from Palmer on the Rams; mostly William Hayes, Jeff Fisher, and former D’Marco Farr. Plus we have two “classic” interviews with former Rams QB Tony Banks and Joe Laurinitis, better known to wrestling fans as Road Warrior Animal, and also the father of former Rams linebacker…James Laurinitis.  Banks talked about being a young QB in the NFL and how hard it was to overcoming certain issues (this was around the time of the RGIII saga) and Laurinitis talked about being the best tag team EVER along with why he and the WWE aren’t the best of friends. Very intriguing interviews for sure.

THE A-TRAIN RANT 16.0!

Time for another edition of The A-Train Rant…16-point-OH!

I have a lot to say on this day. Here we go.

  1. Roger Goodell continues to kill the NFL. I feel indifferent if professional football should go away as a whole.
  2. Tom Brady is a sore loser.
  3. Bill Belichick needs his eyes checked.
  4. Ohio State really sucks along with my Tar Heels. I knew UNC would be bad this year after watching them BEAT Kentucky.
  5. Joel Embiid of Kansas shouldn’t look at being #1 overall in the draft. He has great game so far, a lot more to work on and doesn’t need to focus on the NBA. He doesn’t need to be a Ralph Sampson or Hasheem Thabeet.
  6. I think I may have found a new favorite team…it’s the Golden State Warriors. Yes, they lost last night. But at the same time, this is a young team with a great head coach in Mark Jackson and should make playoff/championship runs for years. I love this team.
  7. The St. Louis Rams should get Clowney or a signal caller to wake up Sam Bradford in the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft. Not an offensive lineman. Work with the linemen they already have. Stop thinking that the next big draft pick is going to be the answer.
  8. Joakim Noah scares me as an NBA player. Last night’s Lakers/Bulls game indicated when he gets the ball under 2 minutes, he forgets how to play basketball. I like his energy but it seems like it spirals out of control when the game is on the line.
  9. Speaking of that Lakers/Bulls game…the Lakers got cheated in that game. Taj Gibson’s last second lay-up shouldn’t have happened the way it did. The clock didn’t start when Gibson got the ball.
  10. Clayton Kershaw deserves every bit of that $215 million the L.A. Dodgers gave him.
  11. Fighting in hockey is probably the reason why I watch it. Sad.
  12. What the hell happened to Serena Williams? She might be done with tennis.
  13. So far EA Sports is on point about the St. Louis Blues. They simulated their season and it came out that they would win the Cup. It would be the franchise’s first. I would love to witness that for real (on TV of course or downtown).
  14. Super Bowl 48’s matchup on paper looks like it’s one for the ages. The NFL is getting what they want by playing the game in it’s “normal” element.
  15. Carmelo Anthony needs to leave the Knicks. All he’s doing is bringing them down instead of building them up.
  16. Paul George’s 360 dunk was very impressive. To anybody that thinks it wasn’t…get a video camera, go find a court and do the dunk. If you can, the dunk wasn’t impressive. Point blank.
  17. Speaking of that dunk, George won’t be in the dunk contest. This is a great indicator that All-Star Weekend needs to die. Who can forget the ever-popular 2Ball competition? SMH
  18. I hope the WWE gets this new WWE Network correct.
  19. I can’t wait to see what the Ultimare Warrior says at his Hall of Fame speech.
  20. I will participate in Warren Buffett’s BILLION DOLLAR (yes that’s correct) bracket challenge. CBS, ESPN, Fox Sports’ bracket challenge’s better up their game. $1,000,000 means nothing anymore.
  21. FINALLY. This whole Richard Sherman thing indicates how silly, stupid and crazy us fans really are. I think we are worse than the athletes themselves. What Sherman did wasn’t right. But don’t dare call him a thug. A thug is a criminal. If that’s the case, Sherman robbed the 49ers of going to the Super Bowl. That’s the best description of what a thug is. People are getting mad that Sherman’s antics have been compared to Muhammad Ali’s antics. It has great comparison sports-related. Talk trash. Back it up. Ali did that. So far, Sherman has done the same. 20 interceptions in just 3 seasons indicates that. With that said…
  22. Justin Verlander needs to (in the words of Chris Jericho) SHUT…THE HELL…UP.

GOOD DAY EVERYONE.

The A-Train Rant Special – Survivor Series and the WWE

Posted in Wrestling with tags , , , , , on November 27, 2013 by ALNTheZone

sseries

It’s before Thanksgiving, so I’m deciding to serve up “The A-Train Rant Special – Survivor Series and the WWE.”

LET ME BEGIN WITH THIS…

  1. Survivor Series 2013 was the worst PPV I’ve seen in a long time. Very bad start for the “Road to Wrestlemania 30.” Very bad.
  2. Every match was predictable on who was going to win the matches…EVERY ONE OF THEM.
  3. The major championships (WWE and World Heavyweight) are being unified at the wrong time, should have at least waited to the Royal Rumble to pull of this trick and set it up to happen at Wrestlemania.
  4. As much as people love John Cena and Randy Orton, no one wants to see these two go at it in the main event…at Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December. These are two men that don’t even use a table, ladder or a chair unless Cena is the one receiving that pain. Orton only uses chairs, and he should because he’s a heel (bad guy).
  5. The direction of the company (in my humble opinion) is not going in the right direction. I’ve seen on wrestling boards and social media who say the same thing. My biggest question is: Why did the WWE end the Attitude Era? It’s time to introduce it again to this younger generation…with that said…
  6. Many WWE superstars are participating in various campaigns that pertain to children and try to connect with them as positive influences. To me that’s a major contradiction. It means that many heels (bad guys) are heroes to these kids, and they want to see them. Here they are promoting something positive, yet in the ring or on TV they are negative…yes, I understand that these guys are characters, I get that. But a young child liking a heel, what does that say? Bad guys are good, right? So what is the real reason for this direction?

I’m done with this. This is what I can think of for now, that’s why it’s a rant. More to come before Thanksgiving.

THE A-TRAIN RANT 3.0!!

Posted in Baseball, Basketball, Football, Special, Sports, Wrestling with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on September 18, 2012 by ALNTheZone

It’s time for another great rant coming from the A-Train…you should love this one. Here we go.

  1. Josh Morgan…you are “The A-Train Rant” DUMMY OF THE WEEK, WEEK, WEEK! Hope and pray that Mike Shanahan give you the pink slip and tell you, “Today is your last day as a Redskin, please turn in your playbook.”
  2. Speaking of football, good win for the Jeff Fisher and the St. Louis Rams. Got that first win and RGIII took his first loss, also means that you shut up John Madden…at least for this week.
  3. Andrew Luck is a beast? Too soon???
  4. Good Sunday to have Cardinals at the end of it. The St. Louis baseball team beat the Dodgers keep a one game lead for the second wild card spot (may have meaning after all). Shoutout to the Arizona football team (too young to really remember the team being in St. Louis), going into Foxboro and knocking off the New England Patriots in their home opener. 1st time any team has beaten the Pats on their home field for their opener. Tom Brady still wondering, “We lost to Arizona? In our home opener?” Yeah, Tom. You did.
  5. Mizzou will be get the tar and feathers beaten off them for the next two weeks. They are about to learn what the SEC really feels like.
  6. Speaking of the SEC, one of those teams will be in the national championship, again. If not careful…it’s LSU/Bama part 2. People will hate that for life! I for one, would love it all over again. Just keep showing how flawed the NCAA system really is.
  7. After watching Peyton Manning against the Falcons, (BOLD STATEMENT TO MAKE) I think Eli Manning will be better than his brother. At least he’s got one thing on Peyton…more Super Bowls.
  8. The New Orleans Saints need some serious help. But thanks Roger, you screwed up not only them but the NFL as well with your patty cake approach to protect your precious golden-arm quarterbacks. In the illustrious words of Tia and Tamera, “GO HOME ROGER!” I know it was bad. So what!
  9. Back to the NFL, these replacement refs have got to go. I tried to support them last time and now I can’ t take it anymore. I think it was FoxSports.com columnist Jason Whitlock that said on Twitter…”the refs don’t understand the NFL philosophy.”
  10. LA Lakers center Dwight Howard had stated through “a source” on ESPN.com that he never wanted to be hated…Brother, that’s all you did was cause hate. People will hate you regardless. If you are successful or better yet, just because you are black. Yeah I said it. The race card still plays in this world that you and I live in. It’s sad, but true.
  11. Speaking of LA Lakers, Ron Artest (I refuse to call him Metta World Peace) said that he believes the Lakers can go 73-9. Hey Ron, why don’t you just say 82-0? I mean you got the right coach to do it, right? You got Phil…eh…Mike Brown to do it. Plus all those injury-plagued players on your team like Pau Gasol and hell, even Kobe Bryant. What other bums, I mean players do they have…well there is Steve Blake, Jordan Hill, and my favorites Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. Looks like you got all the right pieces in place. All you have to do now is get past the Spurs and Thunder and the Miami Heat (paper champs) and you’re in. Well, that was a good dream to not see unfold. I know we have a season coming up but that damn sure won’t happen. Sorry Laker fans. Keep dreaming!
  12. Oh yes…this is a must. After watching Night of Champions I have come to the conclusion that the WWE wants CM Punk to fight The Rock at Wrestlemania. Just to give this idiot the main event he deserves. Otherwise, he’ll lose the belt at Hell In A Cell. (SIDEBAR NOTE) Good to know that Jerry Lawler is OK and released from the hospital. It would have been a sad day if it was more severe. Now lay off the ropes and just commentate.

ONE LAST THING…SHOUTOUT TO MY HOMEY Twillie Cottingham celebrating a birthday today! Make sure you follow her @MissESPN34…fellas, if  you looking for a lady who knows her sports…she’s one of them. Die-hard fan! (She’s going to hurt me for this)

I’m done. More to come soon. Hopefully a radio show soon. Stay tuned.

Please post your comments below. Greatly appreciate it. Bad comments (that will depend on how I feel) will get the boot.
