Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday filled with joy, laughter, and sports. But even during my Thanksgiving holiday…I still found the urge to supply a rant.

  1. Mike Tomlin and Jason Kidd are both jerks. I REALLY lost a lot of respect for both coaches especially Mike Tomlin after he decided to pull some crapola on Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones. But Jason Kidd’s antics were no better. A soda? In the closing seconds of a ballgame? That’s pure stupidity on both ends. Kidd got a $50,000 fine for his stupidity. Tomlin will get his as well. I’m glad both of them lost their respective games. Tomlin’s days are numbered anyway. He thought it was so funny that he pulled the stunt. When that pink slip appears for him and he’s no longer the head coach, I’ll laugh at that.
  2. Kanye West says he is “the reason that Air Jordans are still popular today.” WOW. (laughs) Yeah right. And I’m the reason why Wheel Of Fortune is still on the air too.
  3. No more halftime shows during Thanksgiving games. Save that for the Super Bowl. And I hate it then too.
  4. EA should make only football and soccer video games.

Enjoy your Black Friday, enjoy the college football weekend season finale and more NFL action.

Back at it on Monday.

The A-Train Rant 10.0!!!

296958_1545752100335_1731016917_773274_1225805634_n1.jpg

Just before Thanksgiving, I want to give one big sports rant and say what I’m thinking on this blog before you enjoy your turkey and stuffing.

Ladies and gentlemen,

THE A-TRAIN RANT 10.0!

  1. Jameis Winston should be the Heisman Trophy winner regardless of the outcome on if he’s charged with sexual assault. A.J. McCarron is good  The Heisman Trophy award is for accomplishments done ON THE FIELD, not off of it. Now, I can see a person saying something like…”Well, what about Pete Rose?” Pete Rose STILL SHOULD NOT be in the Hall Of Fame. Why? Because the dirt he did was in baseball and during baseball. I hope this doesn’t become a race issue. I hope not.
  2. As much as I dislike Kobe Bryant, he put some truth on his social media followers about his “selfishness.” I hate to say it, but he’s the most loyal athlete. One team…17 seasons (although injured this season). He was right about the billions that the front office receives more than the players/athletes receive. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. Remember that. EVERYONE! He really is trying to be better than Jordan though, something about passing him in scoring is all he wants to do. He got the rings, MVPs, what else does he need to do?
  3. Chicago Bulls DO NOT NEED to tank for Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins…I wish people would stop saying that. Even if they did, the chances of them getting one of those guys are 1 in 4. Don’t believe me, look up the 2008 NBA Draft or check out the 1993 NBA Draft, and then read the 1985 NBA Draft when this whole lottery crap got started. Damn ping-pong balls. That’s why I hate David Stern. Come on February 1st (Stern’s last day as commissioner).
  4. LeBron James, as much as I dislike him too, should not go back to Cleveland. Anderson Varejao needs to shut his trap. What for? The fans dissed him, burned his jerseys and now they so desperate to win again, they want him back. If I’m LeBron, I’d tell ’em, “Kiss my ass. I love Miami.” Hypocrites.
  5. Alex Rodriguez is a jerk and I love it. The reason for that is because the good guy image (he’s been bad before this) in front of the camera is going south. From him going crazy in judicial hearings to him speaking out Mike Francesa’s radio show…where have you been crazy A-Rod? Let the madness continue. Trust me, it will. Definitely before 2014 spring training.
  6. After seeing some Monday Night Football and seeing Robert Griffin III get decimated by the 49ers…it’s still not a clear indicator that he should be the guy for the Redskins. Usually with 2nd year QBs, they get a 3rd year to indicate that. Same goes for Russell Wilson (even though he’s winning), Andrew Luck, and I’ll even be nice and say Brandon Weeden. The hell with that, Weeden stinks. Even on a good team, his best would be a backup role. Don’t like it, take it to the judge.
  7. Speaking of 1st-round QBs, Sam Bradford as a franchise QB has me wondering for the life of me…do the Rams really want to put their chips in him or find another potential franchise player but in a different round. I know it’s his 4th season and this was supposed to be THE YEAR for him. He got hurt against Carolina and ended all the dreams. Kellen Clemens is definitely NOT the answer but over the past couple of weeks has been solid enough to get quality wins. Still pissed about that Seattle game though, it was a clear game-changing moment wasted.
  8. The Missouri Tigers could be the greatest underdog to make the national championship. Yes, I understand they have a test this week in Texas A&M and a much bigger test in Alabama (if they make it to the SEC championship). We’ll see what happens come Saturday.
  9. I can’t see why Lee Smith and Jack Morris are NOT in the Hall of Fame. They were by far the most dominant at their positions in the 1980s and early ’90s (closer and starter, respectively). What is the problem here? Next year’s class will have Frank Thomas, Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine headlining the class for sure. Lee Smith had 478 saves in his career and Morris had 254 wins in his career. But guys like Bruce Sutter and Jim Palmer are in the Hall of Fame. Sutter had 300 saves but Palmer had more wins than Morris at 268. WHAT IS THE FIGURE TO MAKE THE HALL OF FAME? I don’t get it.
  10. Jason Kidd should have never been a head coach in the NBA.
  11. What the hell is a clean tackle in the NFL? I’ll leave it at that.

After all of this, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims that were lost in the construction of the new stadium being built for the 2014 World Cup of soccer.

The A-Train Rant Special – Survivor Series and the WWE

Posted in Wrestling with tags , , , , , on November 27, 2013 by A-Train

sseries

It’s before Thanksgiving, so I’m deciding to serve up “The A-Train Rant Special – Survivor Series and the WWE.”

LET ME BEGIN WITH THIS…

  1. Survivor Series 2013 was the worst PPV I’ve seen in a long time. Very bad start for the “Road to Wrestlemania 30.” Very bad.
  2. Every match was predictable on who was going to win the matches…EVERY ONE OF THEM.
  3. The major championships (WWE and World Heavyweight) are being unified at the wrong time, should have at least waited to the Royal Rumble to pull of this trick and set it up to happen at Wrestlemania.
  4. As much as people love John Cena and Randy Orton, no one wants to see these two go at it in the main event…at Tables, Ladders and Chairs in December. These are two men that don’t even use a table, ladder or a chair unless Cena is the one receiving that pain. Orton only uses chairs, and he should because he’s a heel (bad guy).
  5. The direction of the company (in my humble opinion) is not going in the right direction. I’ve seen on wrestling boards and social media who say the same thing. My biggest question is: Why did the WWE end the Attitude Era? It’s time to introduce it again to this younger generation…with that said…
  6. Many WWE superstars are participating in various campaigns that pertain to children and try to connect with them as positive influences. To me that’s a major contradiction. It means that many heels (bad guys) are heroes to these kids, and they want to see them. Here they are promoting something positive, yet in the ring or on TV they are negative…yes, I understand that these guys are characters, I get that. But a young child liking a heel, what does that say? Bad guys are good, right? So what is the real reason for this direction?

I’m done with this. This is what I can think of for now, that’s why it’s a rant. More to come before Thanksgiving.

The RETURN of the A-Train Rant!!!

Ranting-Homer

Believe it or not, it’s almost been a year since I did this blog and I guess it’s a good time than ever to do the blog again…so hear goes…

LADIES AND GENTS…

A-TRAIN RANT 9.0 (OH YEAH, STARTING WHERE I LEFT OFF)

  1. Man, it sucks to be Derrick Rose, he can’t catch a break if it didn’t hurt him. The Chicago Bulls star is out for the season again with another major knee injury. He’ll never be the same explosive guy again, and if he does return he needs to change his game real quick.
  2. Mizzou is 10-1, they are not overrated…as a matter of fact that weren’t supposed to be there in the first place. Mizzou beat up teams that were beat down…SO WHAT! THAT’S WHAT YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO DO! To those experts that said they weren’t going anywhere, your eyes have been opened. THANK YOU!
  3. The St. Louis Rams had a great win this past week against the Chicago Bears (man Chicago fans got it bad, real bad), BUT the NFL has horrible officiating…WHERE ARE THE REPLACEMENT REFS? To one Jerome Boger, you better be glad that one of those Rams coaches didn’t break your neck after that God-awful terrible call against Michael Brockers that was a clear hit and not a penalty…Use your eyes and what others see. WOW!
  4. Over the past week, the St. Louis Cardinals dealt former World Series MVP and hometown guy David Freese over to the Angels for two outfielders. Thanks Freese for 2011, and again thank you for two terrible postseasons thereafter. Not only that, the Cardinals really got in to the fun by adding former Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta. Peralta signed a 4-year, $52 million deal with the club. So management went out and got another cheater, does that sum it up correctly? Then general manager John Mozeliak goes and says he’s not the “moral police.” I understand it’s a business but damn, I guess cheaters do prosper in society’s eyes. SHEESH!
  5. EA Sports NHL 14 maybe on to something…they have predicted (SERIOUSLY) that the St. Louis Blues will win the Stanley Cup this year. So far (as of this post) they are 2nd in the Central Division with a 16-3-3 (Wins, Losses, Ties) record. So far, so good! GO BLUES!
  6. Last night’s Survivor Series was the worst WWE pay-per-view I’ve seen in a long time. Catch my new show “Beyond The Ropes” and the panel and I will go into greater detail. Link will be posted on this site.

A-TRAIN RANT IS BACK AND THERE WILL BE MORE TO COME…WE HOPE.

A-TRAIN OUT.
